We are saddened to share the news that North Carolina has lost a true champion for our state’s public schools, teachers and students. Jane Hansel was responsible for bringing the North Carolina Teacher Cadet Program to life over 20 years ago – a program administered by our Foundation for the purpose of “Growing Our Own” public school teachers.
Ann Byrd, NCFPSC Second Vice Chair and COO of Center for Teaching Quality says it well, “Jane was fierce, dedicated, and loyal to all things public education. Her presence will be missed, but her spirit lives on in the work she championed. Our thoughts are with her beloved and devoted husband, Steve, and their entire family.
